Itron is seeking an experienced accounting professional to lead the North America (NAM) inventory and royalty cost‑of‑sales accounting functions. This role is accountable for maintaining a highly accurate control environment, ensuring SOX compliance, and upholding U.S. GAAP policies and procedures. As a leader in the organization, this position supports operational excellence, digital transformation, and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen our customer‑centric, innovative, and collaborative culture.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct the daily operations of NAM inventory and royalty accounting, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Provide clear work direction, project guidance, and coaching to team members to foster accountability, capability, and growth.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities in alignment with the global close calendar using Oracle ERP and EPM tools.
  • Execute and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SOX, and corporate standards.
  • Maintain a strong, well‑documented control environment with sound judgment, analytical rigor, and operational discipline.
  • Stay current on U.S. GAAP developments related to inventory, costing, and royalties; proactively communicate impacts to stakeholders.
  • Support quarterly reviews and annual audits, partnering with external auditors and providing complete, auditable documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external partners to support business initiatives and deliver customer‑focused outcomes.
  • Lead and contribute to continuous‑improvement and process‑automation initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and support digital transformation.
  • Support preparation of SEC filings, including Forms 10‑K and 10‑Q.
  • Contribute to M&A accounting activities and other special projects as assigned.
  • Mentor and develop accounting staff, promoting a culture of innovation, authenticity, agility, and collaboration.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Consistent commitment to ethical conduct, professional judgment, and integrity.
  • Demonstrated experience with manufacturing processes, inventory costing, and royalty accounting.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, SOX compliance, and internal‑control design.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.
  • Highly collaborative with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with the agility to navigate evolving priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while delivering high‑quality, customer‑centric outcomes.
  • Continuous‑improvement mindset with the ability to adopt new technologies and develop innovative accounting solutions that support transformation initiatives.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • CPA or equivalent professional certification.
  • Experience with ERP and consolidation systems, especially Oracle EBS, subledger transactions, and EPM Cloud.
  • Experience with complementary financial tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, Power Automate, or Noetix WebQuery.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience and may vary by location. The base salary is $105,000-$192,000 annually. This position is eligible for our annual bonus program.
