About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Test Engineer to contribute to impactful projects that advance smart energy solutions.

You’ll join a supportive, collaborative team building a highly available, microservice‑based platform that delivers end‑user authentication, authorization, and tenant‑management capabilities for multiple customer‑facing cloud applications developed across Itron.

Itron is consolidating its multiple software solutions around the globe into a world-wide, massive scale IoT/Cloud platform that is designed to serve thousands of utility companies, span 100+ countries, and manage 500M+ devices. We are creating a highly available, microservice based platform solution to provide end-user authentication, authorization, and tenant-management capabilities for several customer-facing cloud applications developed by other teams at Itron.

The platform is based on recent technologies like Angular 20, .NET, Kubernetes, and Microsoft Azure. We do agile development with SCRUM and use Azure DevOps for source control and CI/CD.

What You’ll Do:

• Design, develop, and execute automated end‑to‑end tests for both backend microservices and frontend applications.

• Write, maintain, and optimize automated test suites to ensure fast, reliable execution.

• Deploy, run, and monitor automated tests in Azure‑based environments.

• Participate in product design and architecture reviews to identify risks, gaps, and testability concerns early in the development cycle.

• Develop service mocks and test utilities to support efficient and scalable automation.

• Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and other engineering teams to improve product quality and platform reliability.

• Become a subject‑matter expert in the domain, platform architecture, and customer use cases.

• Lead automation initiatives, contribute to test strategy, and mentor team members in best practices.

• Continuously evaluate and improve QA processes, tools, and frameworks.

What We’re Looking For:

• 5+ years of experience in automated testing of web applications, including backend APIs and microservices.

• Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, testing strategies, and automation best practices.

• Hands‑on experience designing and implementing end‑to‑end test automation using modern programming languages and frameworks.

• Experience with UI and API automation using industry‑standard tools (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, RestAssured, etc.)

• Familiarity with REST APIs, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud‑based environments (Azure preferred).

• Familiarity with Linux virtual machines and cloud environments.

• Ability to work independently and effectively within a globally distributed team.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

• Fluent English and Hungarian, both written and spoken.

Nice to have skills & experience:

• Experience with Azure cloud resources, build/release pipelines, and PowerShell.

• Experience with test automation using modern .NET or C# based tools.

• Experience leading automation initiatives or mentoring team members.
