Founder Associate

The founder associate is a unique opportunity to work alongside the founders at Shellworks to enable a world without plastic pollution. You will learn how to build a business from scratch, how to solve virtually any problem, and the mentality to achieve any goal.

The role spans across finance, legal, people, communications and business development. Expect to work with a positive, passionate, ambitious, incredibly disciplinary team and have high levels of autonomy to create meaningful environmental impact.
Some core job responsibilities include:

Finance operations: Build and execute on our business model. Explore options such as non-dilutive funding from grants, loans, and R&D tax credits. Liaise with accountants and investors on quarterly reporting requirements such as board meetings, investor updates and fundraising documentation.

People operations: Work alongside the founders in building and maintaining a world class team. Implement and maintain company OKRs, all hands meetings, feedback and pulse surveys, as well as engaging and building on Shellwork's incredible advisors.

Business development: Shellworks makes their impact through their amazing customers and collaborators. Help the founders identify the right innovators in the industry who are the first movers to work with this groundbreaking technology.

Communications: With anything new you've got to find meaningful ways to communicate and build an audience. Work with the founders to run their Linkedin and social media platforms to spread their vision and build a community around their vision.

Legal: Support on commercial contracts, NDAs, and other legal documentation.


We are looking for

- 3-4 yrs experience in a startup/investment banking/consulting background, where you’re used to learning fast, working hard, and thinking analytically
- Strong analytical ability and capable of learning quickly
- A proactive mindset with a strong bias to action and creative problem solving skills
- Someone who is results-driven, highly reliable, and eager to invent and simplify current processes and practices
- Ability to operate effectively with high degrees of ambiguity and uncertainty, and to execute tasks against tight timelines and aggressive schedules
- Passion for tackling the plastic pollution crisis

Additional Information

- £35,000 - £50,000 p.a. (depending on experience) plus equity
- Access to a fully kitted out lab (incubators, autoclaves, bioreactors etc) and pilot line workshop (machine tools, injection moulder, extruders, blow moulders, etc.) on site
