About Sention
Sention Technologies is transforming diagnostics for the battery industry, enabling
unprecedented insights into battery performance, quality, and safety. Our proprietary
technologies allow us to see inside batteries and deliver actionable data to customers
through our software platform. Our solutions empower R&D departments, battery
manufacturers, and pack integrators to meet the demands of the energy transition.
Role Summary
Hands-on role responsible for building, assembling, wiring, calibrating and testing electro-
mechanical devices. The technician will work on both production systems and prototypes
integrating mechanical components, motion systems and electronics to deliver fully
functional validated machines.
You will work at the interface between R&D prototypes and repeatable production,
helping transform experimental hardware into robust, buildable systems. The role requires
comfort with changing requirements and the ability to apply strong practical judgement as
designs evolve. You will build complete systems, debug them, improve how they are built,
and feed practical insight back to engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Electro-Mechanical Assembly
• Assemble complete electro-mechanical systems, including frames, motion
systems, sensors, and enclosures
• Build and route custom wiring looms (power, signal, comms), including soldering
and connector termination
• Integrate electronics, sensors, actuators, and motion components
• Produce small batches of custom components using in-house 3D printing
Test, Calibration & Debuging
• Calibrate sensors and sub-systems to defined procedures
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and system-level faults during assembly and
testing
• Maintain accurate build documentation and provide feedback for process
improvements
• Ensure quality, safety and reliability standards are met in all assembled devices
Production & Process Improvement
• Improve build methods, wiring layouts, and assembly sequencing
• Reduce build time and variability through practical improvements
• Contribute to build documentation, checklists, and test procedures
Collaboration with R&D
• Work closely with engineers to feedback build and reliability issues
• Support prototype iteration and early production builds
• Assist with installation, commissioning, or refurbishment of systems as required
Background & Experience
We are deliberately open on background, but successful applicants must have strong
hands-on competence.
Ideal Educational Backgrounds
• HND / HNC / Foundation Degree in:o
Mechatronics
o Electro-Mechanical Engineering
o Mechanical Engineering (with electronics content)
o Instrumentation & Control
• Apprenticeship route (strong signal):
o Engineering Technician / Mechatronics / Manufacturing / Automation
o Typically followed by several years of industry experience
Relevant Industry Experience
The following industries are strongly aligned with the role:
• Scientific or diagnostic instruments
• Automation or motion-control systems
• Robotics or gantries
• Precision machinery
• Semiconductor tools
• R&D labs with physical hardware
Experience Level
Strong applications look like:
• 2–5 years total experience
• Background via apprenticeship, HND/HNC, or hands-on engineering degree
• Experience building complete machines or complex sub-systems
• Ability to clearly explain:
o Why a sensor is noisy
o Why repeatability degrades
o What changes improved build time or reliability
Personal Qualities
Attitudes and personality matter as much as skills for this role:
• Methodical, but adaptable
• Calm when working with evolving designs
• Takes pride in neat, organised wiring
• Notices small repeatability or alignment issues
• Communicates problems early and clearly
Who You Are
• Hands-on and practical: you enjoy building and fixing in particular
• Detail-oriented: precision matters to you
• Comfortable working with early-stage hardware
• Collaborative: you work naturally with engineers and scientists
• Pragmatic: you solve problems in a proactive way
