As our Senior Technical Project Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in coordinating customer projects, optimizing internal processes, and ensuring efficient execution across our teams. Because we’re a small, fast growing company, the ideal person for this role combines technical project management experience with a desire to support and improve overall business operations beyond customer projects, like procurement, budgeting, forecasting, and more. Specific responsibilities include developing and managing engineering project plans, streamlining operational workflows, executing finance and business operations tasks, and facilitating cross-functional collaboration. Your efforts will directly support the timely and successful delivery of our innovative wireless charging systems for life-changing medical devices, driving team productivity, enhancing internal system reliability, and enabling our continued growth and excellence.

Your typical day will involve…

  • Project Management: Manage wireless power system design and development projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with company and customer goals and timelines. Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets, allocate resources, and monitor progress to ensure successful project delivery. Consult with the Head of Systems Engineering, who will advise on engineering effort, risk, and strategies, making sure to keep them apprised of budget, resource, and timeline status, among other things.
  • Technical Planning and Validation: Understand how to break down engineering projects into technical tasks and validate technical decisions and estimates.
  • Team Leadership: Work closely with the leadership team, including our Head of Systems Engineering, to coordinate resources, drive accountability, ensure transparency of project decisions, and build trust across the team.
  • Program Risk Identification and Mitigation: Identify potential risks for customer projects and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success. Collaborate with the Head of Systems Engineering to determine and mitigate technical risks, while being responsible for overall program risks.
  • Documentation and Communication: Facilitate internal and external communication to ensure project cohesion. Maintain comprehensive project documentation and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Strategic Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency of program execution, reduce execution costs, and ensure customer satisfaction, while keeping a consistent focus on scaling up the team’s capabilities.
  • Company and Project Budget Management: Develop forecasts, manage budgets, and track expenses for engineering projects and other business areas to ensure financial goals are met.
  • Vendor and Supplier Management: Negotiate contracts, manage relationships with vendors, generate POs, and ensure compliance.
  • Problem-Solving and Risk Mitigation: Identify and address operational issues affecting projects and pertaining to company-wide operations. Implement solutions and develop contingency plans.
  • Business Operations and Process Improvement: Implement tools and systems, including new software and processes, to streamline workflows, improve productivity, and ensure compliance with company policies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Engineering or technical background.
  • Good understanding of the typical stages and components involved in hardware and software development.
  • Experience managing tech-based projects in the engineering, manufacturing, or related industries (e.g. hardware design and development, software development, IT, and/or system implementations).
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and drive operational improvements.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing new software, systems, and processes to improve operational efficiency and increase productivity, including financial software and/or processes.
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a project lifecycle, including developing, managing, and meeting project budgets.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g. Jira, Asana, etc.) and familiarity with CRM and/or ERP systems.
  • Strong customer-facing experience and an ability to effectively communicate and influence decision making.
  • Experience managing medical technology or medical device development projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven understanding of and ability to apply regulatory requirements to projects, and to advise on and help implement quality management systems and processes.
  • Technical certifications like CompTIA Project+ or project management certifications like PMP, CAPM, or PRINCE2 strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in or closely with manufacturing environments.
