About the Role:

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Technical Procurement Agent to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in procuring electronic and related components, with expertise in managing complex procurement and supply chains from both international and local sources. This is a hybrid role, expected to be in the office 2-3 days per week, linked to our offices in Ndabeni, Cape Town.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive Procurement Management:
    • Oversee the entire procurement process, from receiving Bills of Materials (BOM) to securing proposals, placing orders, and ensuring timely delivery of required materials.
    • Sourcing of R&D components, inventory items, general goods, consumables, and services (e.g manufacturing, maintenance, freight, business support services).
    • Maintain cost-effective supply networks that ensure consistent delivery of high-quality products.
  • Supply Chain and Logistics:
    • Manage the delivery of components from a variety of suppliers, both locally and internationally, including handling orders, payment processes, and the management of shipping and customs clearance documentation.
    • Ensure the timely arrival of materials and stock to meet the planned manufacturing schedules.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with operational and warehouse teams.
  • Stock and Quality Control:
    • Receive and inspect stock upon arrival in Cape Town to ensure correct quantities and quality, and coordinate the delivery of these components to outsourced manufacturing partners.
    • Oversee the return and quality control of finished products from outsourced manufacturers.
    • Train and enable the warehouse team to support in receiving and quality control of stock and finished products.
    • Create and maintain records of goods ordered and received, including:
      • Ensuring correctness of invoices, generating POs, filing of quotes, invoices, sales orders, delivery notes, customs documentation, etc
      • Performing the requisite actions on the inventory management system.
      • Training and enabling the Stock Controller to support in these tasks.
  • Production and Planning Coordination:
    • Forecast and timeous order placement for day-to-day and cyclical procurement needs.
    • Coordinate the planning of production runs with outsourced manufacturers to ensure efficient and timely production of various products.
    • Collaborate closely with Finance and Engineering teams to manage cash flow and stock levels effectively.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Develop and implement strategies to continually improve the procurement and supply process, including working closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Review, evaluate, and improve specifications for sourcing, RFQ, documentation, receival processes, and QA.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years in a procurement role focused on electrical/electronic components, with experience in both local and international procurement.
    • Proven track record in managing complex supply chains and logistics.
  • Education:
    • A Bachelor’s/Technical degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field is preferred, though suitable experience will also be considered.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of the electronics supply industry.
    • Advanced proficiency in spreadsheets and ERP systems, particularly in procurement and stock management modules.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within diverse teams.
    • Strong procurement and supplier relationship management skills, with the acumen to drive continuous improvement in the supply chain process.
