The company has operations in California and Texas, and is backed by globally-renowned investors including Lowercarbon Capital.

About The Role:

The Fleet Manager is responsible for ensuring optimal fleet availability, safety, compliance, and asset utilization across Nevoya’s transportation network. This role plays a key part in maintaining operational continuity through proactive maintenance scheduling, strong vendor management, and exceptional attention to detail. Experience with electric vehicle (EV) fleets is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities:

Fleet Operations & Maintenance:

  • Maintain and manage a growing fleet of Class 8 trucks and trailers (diesel and electric).

  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.

  • Monitor performance alerts, mileage, and telematics data to proactively identify issues.

  • Coordinate maintenance with OEM partners and external fleet service providers.

  • Manage equipment breakdowns and road calls to ensure operational continuity.

  • Maintain accurate records of VINs, plates, RFID tags, warranties, PMs, and repairs.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and regional safety regulations and port requirements.

  • Maintain proper DOT/FMCSA record-keeping, including inspections, registrations, permits, and safety certifications.

  • Partner with Safety and Dispatch to ensure accurate pre-trip/post-trip documentation.

  • Work within Samsara to review DVIRs, track defect resolutions, and ensure timely closeout.

  • Support PDTR and EModal workflows for port-certified units.

Asset Tracking & Lifecycle Management:

  • Maintain accurate asset visibility through trailer-tracking and asset-tracking platforms.

  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding of all trucks and trailers in internal and external systems.

  • Track lifecycle milestones and recommend replacement, redeployment, or disposal strategies.

Vendor & Insurance Coordination:

  • Manage service provider relationships, prioritizing quick turnaround and cost control.

  • Coordinate with insurance brokers to maintain coverage on all active assets and process updates as needed.

  • Review, validate, and approve vendor invoices tied to maintenance activities.

Driver & Operations Support:

  • Ensure drivers are assigned safe, compliant, and properly equipped vehicles.

  • Collaborate with dispatch and operations to maintain equipment availability and support load execution.

  • Capture and respond to driver feedback related to equipment performance.

Reporting & Analytics:

  • Track and report key metrics (uptime, PM compliance, cost per mile, repair turnaround).

  • Analyze cost, utilization, and performance data to drive operational improvements.

What You Bring:

  • Minimum 5+ years managing or maintaining commercial transportation fleets.

  • Strong expertise in DOT/FMCSA compliance and safety-driven record-keeping.

  • Hands-on experience with fleet telematics systems (Samsara preferred).

  • Solid understanding of equipment PM programs and repair operations.

  • Experience working with insurance, titles, and asset registration processes.

  • EV fleet knowledge strongly preferred but not required; strong willingness to adopt emerging technologies.

  • Excellent prioritization, communication, and vendor negotiation skills.
