Chief of Staff

Who We Are:

Kelvin, a New York-based startup, is tackling the century-old challenge of inefficient heating and cooling in buildings, a major contributor to energy waste and carbon emissions. Leveraging a blend of software, hardware, and data science, Kelvin offers a cost-effective solution that aligns economic, practical, and environmental goals, recognized by many awards from the MIT Clean Energy Prize to the Popular Science Innovation Award and more. As a growing team, we value diversity and innovation, striving to provide exceptional value to customers while fostering a positive and productive workplace. Join us in our mission to revolutionize building temperature efficiency and embrace a sustainable future.

About the Chief of Staff position:

Kelvin Systems is in search of a Chief of Staff to help strategize, lead, and execute on our aggressive growth plans through our Series B and beyond. Kelvin is raising funding to capitalize on tens of millions in sales to enter a phase of significantly higher growth and expand our product offering to include the transition of building stock to high-efficiency electrified heating through a novel and proprietary method we’ve developed.

With 'The Cozy' and ‘Hybrid Electrification’ set to redefine energy savings and electrification in residential heating, your role is central to realizing our vision of providing a financially-driven pathway to decarbonized heating for millions of homes in urban areas across the world. Our challenge is to capitalize on current events and policy efforts to decarbonize, while offering a financial product that eliminates direct costs for buildings and residents through federal, state, and utility incentives. While this offering is highly preferred for market rate buildings, it is uniquely enabling for lower income communities for whom we prioritize our solutions.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this role offers the unique opportunity to help strategize and implement doubling the team and quadrupling revenue over the next 18 months as we scale to take advantage of a global addressable market of over $1 trillion. Your role will be to directly assist the CEO in strategizing, guiding, and implementing our growth through Series B and beyond, including senior team expansion, C-Suite operations, and special projects where necessary to drive company success.

Join us in this pivotal role as we advance towards a future where our product is an integral part of energy-efficiency in multi-family residential buildings.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide leverage & feedback to the CEO: Be an extension of the CEO. Understand how they think, what's important to them, the outcomes they want to drive, etc. and represent them when they aren't in the room. Be a sounding board, devil's advocate, or supporter in order to drive towards key outcomes for the business.
  • Operationalize the broader infrastructure of the business: This is around regular reporting cadences (e.g., weekly, monthly, quarterly business reviews), developing goals / OKRs, and holding teams accountable, or otherwise making the business run more efficiently.
  • Dive into special projects as needed: With the broad purview comes opportunity to dive more deeply into areas across the company. For example, if a department is having some challenges, there may be an opportunity for the CoS to dive in as an objective third party to help resolve them.

You Are:

  • A proven Chief of Staff with experience in a Series A+ startup
  • A very effective communicator
  • Highly organized
  • Extremely detail-oriented
  • Good at holding others accountable
  • Influencing & leading without authority
  • Highly adaptable

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary and equitable compensation
  • Generous Benefits Package
  • Company Equity
  • Paid holidays and 4 weeks of paid-time-off
  • All the gear you need to work smart
