The Accounting, Reporting & Control Senior SME is responsible for ensuring that internal and external accounting and reporting is prepared in accordance with IFRS and BP Group Accounting policies for the designated entities and businesses. This role is accountable for the integrity of accounting across the end to end process, including those activities carried out within FBT and provides assurance to the RPT (Refined Product Trading) regional controllers.
The role works closely with business stakeholders, Regional ARC and FBT to ensure matters of control, financial system requirements, capability and integrity are properly considered and applied, and provides the main interface with audit/tax.
In this role You will:
Manage the Trading & Shipping - Refined Product Trading business' finance to deliver end-to-end financial accounting and reporting processes, ensuring activity is recorded and reported accurately and in a timely manner, whilst supporting transparency, integrity and operating excellence. Applies professional accounting and commercial judgement to ensure IFRS standards are adhered to.
Contribute to the accuracy of daily Trader Note, collaborates with Middle Office to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Explore automation/continuous improvement opportunities to bring out synergies and deliver efficiencies in the process.
Willingness to learn new skills, adopt new practices and seek growth opportunities.
Develop and maintain a series of internal and external relationships to ensure the successful delivery of accounting and reporting projects, applying advanced technical capabilities to support requests, issues, activities, audits, and planning.
Collaborate with senior stakeholders across departments to adopt innovative work practices.
Coordinate analysis and explanation of reports and accounts to ensure informed decision making, making sure that data is retained and meets obligations.
Adopt control agenda across the supported business, to assure a robust control environment; co-ordinate business control reviews, health checks and audits in local entities, and follow up on the recommendations and findings. This includes IT/Systems risks and controls.
What You will need to be successful:
Finance & Accounting Professional with 5+ years relevant experience
Recognized accounting qualification is preferred
Investment banking and product control experience is an advantage
Proficiency in English
Proven track record in Financial Accounting and Derivative Accounting
Hands-on experience in process re-engineering, improvements, and strong drive on process transformation
Experience in influencing teams
Solid understanding of derivative products
Able to manage multiple/conflicting priorities with a consistent track record of delivery against tight deadlines
Ability to align operational and project management tasks and priorities
Self-confident appearance in relation to internal and external partners
Strong communication and cooperation skills
Desirable capabilities:
Oil/Energy industry experience and knowledge with an understanding of the terminology, business functions and processes.
Experience in organizations supporting trading activity.
